Skinvive™ FAQs: Everything You Should Know Before Your Treatment
Over the past year, Skinvive™ has quietly become one of the treatments our patients ask for the most at Hazel Clinic.
Unlike treatments that dramatically change facial features, Skinvive™ has earned its reputation for doing something much more subtle—but equally powerful: improving skin quality from within.
Many of our patients return for maintenance treatments because they love how their skin feels just as much as how it looks. The feedback is remarkably consistent:
“My skin looks healthier.”
“People say I look well, but they can’t tell why.”
“My makeup sits better.”
“My skin feels smoother even without skincare.”
As one of the doctor-led clinics in Dublin offering Skinvive™, we’ve answered hundreds of questions from patients considering the treatment. Here are the ones we hear most often.
What actually makes Skinvive™ different from dermal fillers?
This is probably the biggest misconception.
Although Skinvive™ contains hyaluronic acid, it isn’t designed to create volume, lift the cheeks, or reshape facial contours.
Instead, it is injected as tiny microdroplets throughout the skin to improve hydration, elasticity and skin texture.
Think of it as improving the quality of the skin itself rather than changing the face.
The goal isn’t for people to notice you’ve had a treatment.
The goal is for people to notice that your skin looks exceptionally healthy.
How long does Skinvive™ last?
Most patients enjoy results for around six months, although this varies depending on individual skin quality, lifestyle and sun exposure.
Because the treatment gradually improves hydration within the skin, many patients notice that their complexion continues to improve over several weeks.
For this reason, many of our patients choose maintenance treatments twice a year.
When will I see results?
Skinvive™ isn’t an instant treatment.
Some patients notice improved hydration within the first week, but the skin generally continues improving over the following 3–4 weeks.
The final result develops gradually, which is one reason patients appreciate how natural it looks.
Is Skinvive™ only for mature skin?
Not at all.
One of the reasons Skinvive™ has become so popular is its versatility.
It can benefit patients in their late twenties looking to maintain healthy skin, as well as patients who want to improve early signs of ageing or restore hydration after years of sun exposure.
It is suitable for anyone whose main concern is skin quality rather than volume loss.
Can Skinvive™ replace my skincare routine?
No.
Even though Skinvive™ hydrates from within, daily skincare remains essential.
We always recommend:
Daily SPF 50+
Medical-grade antioxidants
Gentle cleansing
Regular moisturising
Retinoids when appropriate
Think of Skinvive™ as complementing a good skincare routine—not replacing it.
Does the treatment hurt?
Most patients describe Skinvive™ as very tolerable.
A local anaesthetic is usually applied beforehand, and the product also contains lidocaine to improve comfort during treatment.
The procedure typically takes around 30 minutes.
Will I look swollen afterwards?
Immediately after treatment you may notice tiny injection points, mild redness or slight swelling.
These usually settle within 24–48 hours.
Because Skinvive™ doesn’t create volume, patients generally don’t experience the dramatic swelling sometimes associated with traditional fillers.
What is the most important aftercare advice?
The first 24 hours matter.
To optimise healing, we recommend:
✓ Avoid strenuous exercise
✓ Avoid saunas and steam rooms
✓ Avoid excessive sun exposure
✓ Do not massage the treated area unless instructed
✓ Wear SPF daily
✓ Keep your skin well hydrated
Good aftercare helps your skin recover comfortably and supports the best possible results.
Who loves Skinvive™ the most?
Interestingly, many of our returning patients tell us they don’t necessarily notice one dramatic change.
Instead, they notice lots of small improvements:
Skin looks brighter.
Makeup applies more smoothly.
Fine dehydration lines become less noticeable.
Skin feels softer.
Their complexion looks healthier in photographs.
These subtle improvements are exactly what Skinvive™ was designed to achieve.
